IPCop vs Router vs Electicity (0)

I love IPCop. It’s great! And yet, I’m not using it because electricity bills tend to come around and show me the value of a dollar. It’s this sort of lose-lose situation where you can’t run a distro like IPCop on a proper tower machine and at the same time, you can’t buy a smaller machine because the truly small ones cost a fortune.

So I’m back to my trusty old [insert brand] router. I don’t love it, but I have to use it.

Most people I know who use Gmail sign in by simply going to gmail.com. Hell, up to a few weeks ago I used to do the same thing. When you sign in like that your authentication is perfectly secure because you’re using Google’s SSL certificate. However, once you’re signed in, you’re on your own! There is nothing stopping random people from sniffing your traffic and getting your banking information and social security number. There is also nothing preventing Paul Asadoorian from changing your default language. continue reading »

ATTENTION: SharePoint 2003 Users! (0)

Do not! I repeat, do not install SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3)! A simple Google search will show you that this so called service pack may hose your SharePoint servers, inconvenience your users and anger your boss. As of this writing, the issues of the service pack have not been resolved. I will post back here when I have the hotfix “in my hands.”
